Guides
Your first class, step by step
Comfortable clothes and water. We supply a trial uniform. Parents are always welcome to watch. You'll be introduced to the coach, shown where to change, and paired with someone who knows it's your first time.
Jiu-Jitsu for shy children
Shy children often do well in Jiu-Jitsu because progress is personal. Tell us beforehand and we'll help them settle into the class gradually.
Starting after 40
No previous experience or fitness required. Adults in their forties, fifties and beyond train with us regularly. You control the intensity, and techniques are introduced progressively as you build confidence and experience.
Building confidence through Jiu-Jitsu
Confidence comes from evidence. Every class gives a child a small, real example of doing something difficult - and that adds up faster than praise does.
Why Jiu-Jitsu works so well for children
Jiu-Jitsu helps children build confidence, coordination, discipline and practical skills while learning in a structured and supportive environment.
Self-defence, clearly explained
Gracie Jiu-Jitsu focuses on staying safe through distance, position, escapes and control. We teach de-escalation first, followed by effective control when needed.
